Payment of Account

Crest Hospital will accept payment from all medical insurance companies. If your hospital account is to be paid by your health insurance company you will need to confirm this with them before admission and obtain a prior approval letter from them. Patients who are not covered by health insurance, ACC or public funding will be required to pay PRIOR to admission,  a 90% deposit of the estimated cost of their hospital account. The balance must be paid on discharge. Estimates will be provided by Crest Hospital on request.

Anaesthetic Information

The effects of a General Anaesthetic may be felt up to 24 hours after it has been administered.  During this time you SHOULD NOT…

  • Drive a motor vehicle
  • Sign important documents
  • Drink alcohol
  • Make major decisions
  • Operate machinery

When you go home you must have a responsible adult to stay with you for the first 24 hours after an anaesthetic.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask the Nursing Staff or your Anaesthetist.

Equipment Hire

Crest Hospital has limited equipment for hire. This includes crutches, raised toilet seats and helping hands.  In some cases Crest Hospital can arrange hire equipment for you through other agencies.

Please note there is a charge for all equipment hire - you will find the rates on the Equipment Hire Form which you will sign with your nurse. The form will state when the equipment is due to be returned to us Please contact us if you require it for longer.

Equipment not returned to us or returned damaged will be charged for in full.

Discharge Time

Your surgeon must give clearance for you to be discharged. On the day of discharge, please vacate your room by 11.00am to avoid incurring extra charges. If, for some reason, you are unable to leave by this time, please speak to your nurse.  You may be asked to wait in the lounge.

Comments Forms

Crest Hospital is committed to providing a quality service to our patients and welcomes your suggestions or comments about our service.  Please  let us know how you enjoyed your stay by completing a Comments Form. You will find a comments form in the front of your welcome pack in your room, or in various locations in the Hospital. Please either hand your comments form to the receptionist, place it in one of the ‘Comments Boxes’ or post / email  it to us.
